What kind of royalties can I expect?
Typically, an author receives between 15%-40%, depending
on investment.
Do you provide an ISBN?
We provide 13-digit ISBN numbers.
Who owns the copyright of my book?
You own the copyright to your book.
How long will it take to print my book?
From contract to printed book it usually takes between nine
to twelve months.
What is the average number of sales of a book in a year?
Sales vary greatly, but it is fair to say that we usually
sell between 500-1000 copies of a book in a year.
How do you market my book? What marketing resources do
you provide?
We market your book through the regular sales channels such
as book chains, wholesalers, distributors, libraries, stores,
websites, and book fairs. We also utilize non-traditional
channels when a book warrants it. We send out press releases,
publicity kits, catalogs featuring your book, and advance
copies of your book to stimulate interest and pre-sales.
When do I get paid for book sales?
Royalties are paid annually, on the date of the printing
of your book.
Do you sell to the chains in the States?
Yes. We have a history of sales with Borders and Barnes
& Nobles.
What kind of sales force do you have outside the States?
We have our own sales force in England, the United States,
and Israel, and distributors in Canada, South Africa and
Australia.
Who sends books to reviewers?
Our Marketing and Publicity Director sends all books to
reviewers, at our expense.
Does your company accept all manuscripts?
No. We only accept a small number of the manuscripts sent
to us. They must meet the needs of our Jewish market, which
means they should have the potential to sell from 3000-5000.
What kinds of subjects are you looking for?
Non-fiction sells best, but we sell many Holocaust titles,
as well as novels. Poetry is difficult to sell and we have
rarely found a manuscript that meets our criteria, but we
do accept poetry manuscripts.
Do you have a minimum first print run?
Yes. With few exceptions, 1000 copies is our minimum first
print run.
Let's say my books sells 5000 copies. Who pays for reprints?
We do.
Who warehouses the books?
We warehouse all the books.
How many books do I receive for free?
You receive at least 15 of each edition (hard and soft cover)
of your book.
After my book is published, how much do I have to pay
for a book?
You have to pay 50% of the list price of your book. However,
all purchases are deducted from royalties.
